Yes. The time has come.
It's....American Idol.
I don't know if we have ever posted anything regarding the super, mega, money churning reality show that is American Idol. If so correct me if I'm wrong but:
First!
Note: If you did not get the above reference, I highly suggest you go back to your level 16 snugglepuffdragonsheba on Neopets.
Megan Corkrey, a single mom from Salt Lake City, Utah blew me away during audition round and was my clear choice for winner of American Idol.
She is unique. That's all I have to say. And unique is in.
Sure hitting those high notes and having long rifts and runs are great, but if you now notice, those sort of things are common. Those making waves in the industry are the ones that can stand out form the pack inotherwords: unique.
The Killers, Coldplay, Feist, Lily Allen all of these voices in my opinion are unique and can easily be differentiated from other artists on the air.
Megan Corkrey is on that list. PS: So are many others, don't get me wrong.
Alas, American Idol has once again dissappointed. Megan Corkrey did not make it to the top twelve (not including Wild Card Round though).
But, words can only say so much.
Enjoy.
Edit: MTV had this to say about her.

Atonement
Dearest Cecilia,
The story can resume,
The one I had been planning on that evening walk,
I can once again become the man who once crossed,
the Surrey park at dusk,
in my best suit, swaggering on the promise of life;
The man, who, with the clarity of passion,
made love to you in the library.
The story can resume.
I will return,
I will find you, love you, marry you,
And live without shame,
I will return,
I will find you, love you, marry you,
And live without shame.
Wait for me Cee.
-excerpt; Robbie's lamentations to Cecilia.
so beautiful. the touch to Atonement is so out of this world: it is a love, all-consuming, real and defeated. i absolutely adore the movie.
and the lines-- so clever and articulate. cinematography very good as well, the sharp colours and tiny movements made by the actors.
James McAvoy and Keira make a pretty couple ;)
look at Keira's dress. the most beautiful thing-- she makes it her own by her skinny and tall frame (some people would call her the fugly rail) but just look at this dress! she makes skinny look bootylicious!
ahh. i love atonement.

Oscars
Ever had a dream? Not those go to sleep kinds, or REM sleep for the science geeks out there, yes I know you read the blog.
I now have a new one. I want to go to the Oscars. Even if it's just as an audience member. I want to laugh when the host does a musical number or his/her opening monologue and I want to cry when my idols win big on Oscar Night.
I so wanted to be there for the 81st Academy Awards.
For those who did not catch one of film's biggest nights -- first of all, go catch it, download it. And secondly, it was magnificent.
I have never laughed, teared and felt so much when watching an award ceremony in my life. Well maybe an exception for the award ceremony at Langkawi. But let's not take that one out of the closet.
Everything about the 81st Academy Awards was perfect. Again, an exception to maybe Daniel Craig reading off the tele-prompter. He kept stuttering and missing lines. But alas, tis but a small issue.
Edit: Robert Pattinson's presentation was horrendous. He kept looking at something other than the audience and kept shifting awkwardly. And the fans go: He was probably nervous, the poor thing! Jal goes: Fig's end!
The Kodak Theater was beautifully decorated with crystals and huge chandeliers. And on stage, the curtains that covered the five vertical LCD screens that could be melded into one, were semi-transparent and was in this mysterious shade of dark blue.
What I liked most however of this year's Oscars was not the hilarious opening number from host Hugh Jackman about 2008's biggest movies and neither was it the musical tribute performed by the host and other stars (don't want to spoil. it was a amusing surprise to have found out myself). It was however, the way in which the awards were presented.
In classical, and obvious style, the presenters will read the nominations and a clip of them from the movie would be displayed. This time, the awards for Best Supporting/Lead Actor/ Actress were presented by the introduction of past winners.
For instance, when the award for Best Actor was being presented, past winners such as Anthony Hopkins, Adam Brody, Ben Kingsley, Micheal Douglas and Robert DeNiro would go on stage to read the nominations. And these past winners would be revealed by them standing behind the 5 LCD's that had their pictures of them winning displayed and the screens would then lift and they would appear. Very chun.
And we haven't got to my favourite part yet, the best part is how they read the nominations! Each past winner will deliver a short speech about one nominee. And get this, the speech is not only for the audience, but is directed at the nominees themselves. For instance, when Anthony Hopkins read the nomination for Brad Pitt, it ended with something like 'We sing your praises'. Something like that.
Edit: Anthony Hopkins ended with something like 'magnificent work my friend.'
It made it so personal and I felt it. It felt as if a close friend of Brad Pitt's was singing his praises and I was just there to watch that intimate moment.
This new style of presenting are the tear shedding moments for me.
Another of course was when Heath Ledger won. But come on, who wouldn't slightly tear up. He was phenomenal, people who have seen my comp's wallpaper would know how much of a fan I am of his portrayal of the Joker. What made it worse was when the camera kept getting shots of people getting emotional when he won. I can almost hear the DoP (if the Oscars have them) going:
'Camera 12 shot on Angelina now! She's tearing up!'
'Beautiful...Beautiful...now pan the shot and give me a little of Brad, I think he's got signs of weak eye plumbing! Excellent!'
And when they went to the shot of Adam Brody crying then to a shot of an entire theater giving a standing ovation...
Sniff.
Anyway, I think this post has gone on long enough. Suffice to say, I LOVED the Academy Award show this year. From the glitz and the glam of Best Picture to even the award presentation for costume and sound. It was simply amazing.
I know what I'm going to wish for when I blow out them birthday candles.

So? whats been up fellas?
I have yet to catch the Academy Awards, tho I heard Slumdog Millionaire sweeped clean.
poor Curious Case Of Benjamin Button-- I swear it was a good movie!
I wanna c Slumdog bitches.
my relatives were over for the weekend. not funny lah. had to give my room away and all that shenannigan. was so angry, felt like my room was being raped. oh well.
YOU FEEL ME ANOT JIT? YOU ALSO DONT LIKE IT WHEN SOMEONE COME SLEEP IN UR ROOM AND YOU GET KICKED OUT TO BUNK WITH YOUR BRO KAN?
nia sing.
the worse part is that I couldn't study because they were all over the place + my room was occupied. How groose is that? I should have just spend all weekend out.
instead, i finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets right after Breaking Dawn.
tsh. probably the sixth time i've read that chapter of HP.
HAIH...
anyway. here's an interesting fact :
How do you go back in time?
First, you have to understand the concept of light. You know we see all things because light reflects off them/ radiates off them and our eyes catches the image right?
i'm hoping you remember that much about Physics.
moving on. take for example supernova- the images we catch in the sky.
this is a photo of supernova. now you know, supernova happens in other galaxies which are eons of lightyears away right? and a lightyear is the amout of distance traveled over time by a ray of light.
which is alot.
so in actuality, the image of the supernova you see in the sky, like the picture, had happened eons of lightyears ago.
its because it had taken that image of light to travel to our eyes, eons to reach us, because the supernova is happening so far away.
so by the time we see it, it had already happened ages ago.
mr.suresh also made another interesting comparism.
if an alien spaceship was observing us from eons of lightyears away by some chunted telescope, they would probably see the dinosaurs, because it took that image so long to travel to them.
they would probably see us, say, eons of lightyears after.
cool eh?
backing up. so, say, for instance if we could travel faster than the speed of light.
wouldn't we then, be, travelling faster than the image travelling?
that way, we would be able to look back into our past. because we're faster than the travelling image.
COOL?
thats it for the past trivia. apparently, travelling back in time isn't possible, but looking back is, if you're faster than the speed of light.
which is impossible.
therefore, we can't even see the past, let alone, travel back.
nice phys lessons lah that one.
;)
i feel better already, after that nerd trivia.

Slumdog Millionaire FTW!
Wow.
The movie is amazing. I haven't seen the other Oscar nominated films but I finally understood the fanfare behind this amazing film and in my opinion, deserves all its honours, even the Academy Award for Best Film. The soundtrack is good as well with some tracks just hitting me as it flowed so well with the scene.
I'm not going to say much except go watch it if you can!

Oh boy....
Hahahaha, kenakan poor CK for buying his tablet....
I sympathise with you, CK, cause I too seem to be included in your 'I-bought-something-without-first-telling-ming-but-am-not-apologetic-about-it' group.
Anyway, first things first, I've not been keeping tabs with the blog. Reasons:
1. Lit work is getting tough. Have to do coursework, and guess what, we get to make our own questions. Eg, did Shakespeare, in his works, Much Ado About Nothing and Othello, condone or object the treatment of Elizabethan women.
Yeah, so it's a big pain (sorry to be complaining about college).
2. Diablo 2 : LoD. TCP/IP Games with my bro. 'nuff said.
And since we are giving shout-outs.
HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY SARAH!
This is my fav so far,

Ck;
i still can't fucking believe you bought a Wacom without first telling us-- well, without first telling me that you're about to buy a WACOM!
what size? (no pun intended) and how much?
Jal. i know it's freedom to buy things without telling moi first, but just let this one pass without commenting please?
would you also tell me before you buy the DSLR? mind you. ;D
i need to keep up with you ppl yo. maybe i'll go buy an Ipod.
i'm really stressed up. especially after today. reason being, my Yamaha Grade exams are 4 weeks away and i'm nowhere near ready for it (especially improvisation, not so creative there as compared to swearing) and my AS trials is like the week after that.
no kidds..
so much revision and practicing to do. how the fuck do you squeeze something so creative and something so logical into one brain at the same time. tension leh!
wish i finished music school before entering college goddamit.
looming up are also my LAN project deadlines, and finals. Nowhere close to finishing that either.
;/
and, on a totally unrelated note :
JAMES MCAVOY is such an awesome actor!!!!!!!!!!! i swear. he is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: hello Deena Darshini! (if you're reading) i can't believe you didn't know i had a blog until today! old news lah you.

Back from lokap
So where was I the past couple of days? Cibai Microsoft decide to lockdown my Windows after a reboot. I couldn't log in because everytime I do, an error pops up saying something is preventing Windows from properly validating my Windows or some crap.
Don't make conclusions just yet, I have a valid Windows license. But of course my copy of Windows was fake, but I still have a license!
But whatever.
Good news this time around though, I was able to salvage my data and reformatting the computer at the same time.
This brings me to another topic, computer shops are very unprofessional. They only ever have one word in their dictionary, REFORMAT! But what about all my precious data you ask, well they will tell you what you already know, it will be wiped. I don't see much hope in them upgrading their lexicon anytime soon so one word of advice, literally, BACKUP.
Oh,
HHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYYYY BBBBBBBUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRFFFFFFFFFDDDDDDDDDAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYY(you already know what that means ;)) Sarah!
So thats all for today, I'll get back to rigging up my computer back to its old self and finally be able to fiddle with my Wacom. Yeap! =D

will you love me when the morning comes?
Happy Valentines doods. ;D
i don't even smell love in the air. such a dry Valentines it is! I wonder what happened to all the cheesy, unavoidable music that makes you feel suicidal on the radios? And all the talk about dates whatnot.
even more surprising, i had asked a few of my classmates what they were doing for Valentines.
answers range from, "Dunno, go out for a while?" to "Not doing anything this year"
they're all dating, mind you.
looks like everyone thinks Valentines is this commercialized holiday shit now. Jal has been promoting well, it seems.
caught Becoming Jane on HBO just now. I was surprised, Anne Hathaway was pretty good there. and James McAvoy, obvyD, dreamy as usual. the movie, however, wasn't very good. it was so much like Pride and Prejudice- though i figure, the story being about the author had a lot to do with that xD
Sarah's birthday is coming!
hehehe..

say no. to all things emotional.
"Hey Ming! Let's take a picture"
shuffles lifelessly, "Why don't I take the picture for you guys?"
"Errr. sure. But you haven't been in many pictures already, is that okay?"
awkward pause.
"Yeah, definitely. Don't worry about it"
i have been subconsciously avoiding cameras for a while now. This is a known fact I've yet to admit to you guys. Maybe it's because I've lost interest in taking pictures, or, just maybe, i hate seeing the depression and the emptiness registering on my face at every frame.
at first, i pretended it was all a state of mind- but when i look into the few pictures that i did take last Saturday, it's obvious. I look tired, sad, drained, empty - like a broken ragdoll. If not for project purposes, I would have avoided the lenses altogether.
haha. sometimes, you have to clutch onto your stomach to avoid the pain spilling out of your gut.
wrong time to buy a powerful pair of lenses, brother jit ;)

19
Turning 19 was oK. not the horrendous affair of getting older- as I've previously imagined.
the guys came over, and had steamboat that my Mum prepared. hung around for a bit, played some mafia, and loads of laughter.
gegambar all with Estee, Wee Kiat and Sarah. shucks lah, i need to get a new camera pronto!
wish you could've been there Lisa (dgn. Fana and Aida) I miss you guys so terribly much. I thought of bringing you guys to my place, but the food semua tak halal. not nice la den. kan?
and lookie! Sarah/ CK / Jit yang gave me the Twilight series. AHHHHH! It was all so special. They wrapped one book (twilight) and hid the others in my book shelf. It wasn't until much later that I noticed my new addition of books. it was awesome! thank you so much guys.
i know Sarah thought a LOT about the perfect present to get me. and it was PERFECCTT HONEY! =D. You gave me Edward Cullen and the perfect love story, all in one gift.
thank jooooooo guys!
PS : I would love anything you give me neways =P

Cita-Cita :
If I were to sum up everything I want to achieve in life through my career, it would probably look and sound something like this,
or Final Fantasy VII : Advent Children or Kingdom Hearts. Or Little Big Planet.
