Augustus Bestus

So like August has been and is going to be the best month I've ever have, I think, I hope lol. Why?

After LOUD09, things has been so relaxing, so much so that i've procrastinated so much yet of course delivered my work, but dota-ing countlessly in between. Ahh such bliss.

But that's college life, which is coming to an end this week. After that is 3 weeks break! And that's the best part. First of all, is the time off that I want and need, obviously. Secondly, Final Fantasy Dissidia is coming out August 25 and September don't look too shabby as well with a few other games on the lineup, like Persona, and maybe even Soul Calibur 0.0.

But!! Probably the best news of all I've heard today(no Arsenal haven't sign anybody yet, dammit) is that.. wait for it...

FAT PRINCESS IS COMING TO THE PSP WOOHOOO!!!

That's right. I was so happy when I read wikipedia that a PSP version of the game is under development. What's the deal? Fat Princess is a multiplayer game(up to 32 players simultaneously) with the concept being capture the flag. Instead of a flag, players need to rescue their princess from the enemy. However, to make things abit more special, you can collect food and feed your hostage princess to make her fat so that it makes it harder for your enemy to carry her back to their castle.

I know right?

It's so clever and direct, it's genius! Man, can you believe it? Hahaha this is awesome. The current game is only out on the PS3, which can be downloaded through the PS Network. There is 5 different classes in the game, a worker, archer, warrior, mage and forgot 1 more(healer I think) what already. Here is a preview from youtube.

This is the official logo

Yes, The time for the reign of the PSP has come. COME ON FAT PRINCESS!!

P.S. : And as always, a tune. Enjoy!

In Rainbows

I know I am potong-ing your steam by posting this before you Ming but I just want to say congratulations!

For those who have not know yet, Ming just got straight A's (4A's, right?) for his AS exams, which means uber awesome shiznitness if you don't understand what the hype is about. I feel like giving you a gift so here is one (I am partially lying because I'm also finding some outlet to post music I like =P). Anyway this is a very very beautiful song from Radiohead, and I shall dedicate it to you, not that you're beautiful, but that you got beautiful results (sorry la, need to down to Earth abit =D).

Here you go!

ill

i'm so tired of being ill. seriously. this month's toll is already 2 for this weak body of mine. i've been hit by the flu TWICE.

and no. i DO NOT have influenza A, don't get your panties in a twist. but i just can't help but be curious if there is a hidden motive behind all this falling sick-ing.

*shudders*

Anyway, i am missing all of you terribly. life without you besties is very draining at times. i miss the impressive company and the "lack of words comfort", when all i need is a hug and a smile of reassurance. you guys are the only friends who can make me feel better without actually saying anything.

My AS RESULTS are coming out on Monday. it might be a little bit dramatic to say "my future shall be set in stone in 4 day's time" but it is true to some extent. wish me all the best guys. i'm not in the least tense about it. yet. i guess it'll kick in on Sunday night. get your phones ready ;D

mmm. enough about myself. let's do some sharing :

1. Tommy Emmanuel, his guitar, and Angelina.
- have you guys heard this amazing piece by Tommy? He's this guitarist that i'm absolutely gaga over right now. excellent music, kinda like chicken soup for the soul.

2. 500 Days of Summer

- i first read about this in a magazine, then stumbled across a very handsome picture *ahem* on lisa's crazy blog. then, i you-tubed it and it's all i can think about watching right now.

this is not a love story, it is a story about love.

definately one to notebook in your diaries.

3. The atrocity that is Harry Potter and the half Blood Prince.
- I cannot believe it took me this long to start insulting the movie. i know everyone thinks the movie is a complete waste of 2 hours you're never going to get back in your life; but trust me, the movie picked a bone with me a whole other LEVEL.

i am a fanatic where harry potter is concerned, and i am very dissapointed in the potrayal of one my favourite books of all time.

they changed scenes (which i can totally accept where appropriate, sadly most of the changes were HIGHLY inappropriate) they ADDED scenes (something that is inappropriate on its own, you just don't add on to JK Rowling's fantasy world however minutely, unless you're JK Rowling) and Harry is such a stoner actor, he takes the cake for stoniness right after hayden christenenssen in Star Wars. NO, wait, he's MUCH WORSE.

i could probably turn my mum into harry potter with an attachable penis and some glasses to boot, by his standards.

ARGH. i AM SO ANGRY-FIED

4. T-Shirts in tribute to the king of PoP - i am nowhere close to a true fan. but i'm selling shirts. the design is like this :

design 1
design 2

colour : white shirt
cut : fitted to chest (male/female)
sizes : S/M/L/XL
prices : (in discussion, but will be less than RM20)

- mind you, this shirt is for charity so anything less than RM20 is reasonable. please buy and support the cause. it's to raise funds for orphanages on behalf of Taylor's.

you two will buy one right ;D

PS : the designs are courtesy of Lisa (especially design 1) and Suzen (design 2)

i guess that's all for now. smelllss you later !~

Anywayyy...

So again, it's that time of the year, again! That time of the year that I decide to award one of the best inventions ever invented in the history of human inventions. So what invention will take the spotlight this time? Behold,
The
GeForce4 MX 4000 64MB Video Card. Yes, this year's Invention of the Year award goes to the, in my opinion, John McClane of GPUs. You are probably thinking two things right now. The first being that this graphic card is probably the shiznit of the fo-shizzles in the graphics card world and secondly, you would think that I am an expert in this area. Well you are wrong, only if you were thinking those 2 thoughts, if not, you are correct.

This graphic card was released way back in 2002. It was not exactly the shiznit of the fo-shizzles at that time either with many other models more powerful than it though it has some measure of performance. However I'm not dishing out the award based on its performance (if you don't know by now, these awards are pretty biased) so it doesn't matter. This is after all the John McClane (the Die Hard one) of GPUs so what makes this a winner is its reliability and longevity.

I got this beast mid 2004 after convincing my dad that I wanted to use it for animation. This GPU got me involved in Lineage 2 and GTA Vice City and if you don't already know, they are quite graphics intensive games at that time. However, as the years passed it began to wear out and I could see it. Maybe its the overall performance of my computer deteriorating but I can't help feel that it also contributed. The animation promise wasn't realize until 2 months ago, 5 year later. With that sort of time being passed and obvious signs of old age, you wouldn't expect much. I didn't at least. However it got me through the project I had for LOUD09.

Though I have to give equal credit to the Tung family for accomadating me for an entire week to utilize their far superior computer. Nonetheless, this computer did much of the editing and even rendering two of the 3 videos, not in record time but given circumstances, I would say its more of a miracle. It's not over-praising when After Effects is a program quoted as " the program that is worth buying an 8-core MacPro for."

I feel like I finally understand the joy of an indie film maker achieving success with limited resources. Anyway enough of the SS post. This is the second last week of my semester already. So fast right? I know. I cannot believe it myself either. Hope to see you all soon during my break maybe. Ciao de mao!

i am physically challenged, but i have met so many more able-bodied people who are more crippled than i am

pure genius. the very words of the VERY Tony Christiansen himself.

Taylor's was kind enough to invite this inspiring speaker to help us get back on track and review on our life perspectives. Mr. Tony Christiansen is a man without legs, physically challenged, yet in so many ways more competent than the average human being.

what sets him apart? his fierce determination of setting goals and seeing them accomplished.

He is a gold medal winner in paralympics javelin throwing, climbed Mount Kilimanjaro (tallest peak in Africa) and is the most optimistic person ever, especially when considered he probably doesn't even remember how it felt like to walk. He lost his legs at the age of nine.

truly, truly inspiring.

i hope he's going around to other colleges to continue to inspire other students to pursue their dreams.

Mr. Tony on the right.

for more details on his absolutely amazing life go here.

especially those of you who are feeling especially discouraged about something. i know i was, and this really HELPED a lot. it's wonderful to hear of someone else' success and seeing how it might be possible for you one day.

the best example of the non-existence of impossibility is American Idol, every year hundreds and thousand of people sign up and who's to say there's no hope despite that? isn't it compulsory that SOMEONE must win? why can't it be you, if you've got what it takes?

the key is to look from this perspective.

it's every woman's role to guard her chastity, and every man's job to coax her to surrender it

i'm feeling very much like the man in the quote.

Universities are as paranoid about accepting new applicants as the average virgin, intent on safeguarding her "innocence" from being entered by the wrong man. The same rule applies, they screen you, they monitor if you're worthy, and put you through a series of grueling tests and obstacles; just to decide to let you in.

Ah yes, apart from studies (which my dear friend CK points out on my behalf) i have been engulfed in university applications as it is that time of the year again. I never really thought about how universities picked undergrads in the past, but now that i'm experiencing it first hand : it's absolutely catastrophic.

First there is the insane application fee every university seems to be enjoying to impose so much. I guess I can understand this purpose (to clear off people who are just applying for fun without keen interest) but some Unis in the UK are really asking a LOT.

details unnecessary.

and then, there's the ever popular personal statement. your one chance to sell yourself in about 4000 characters to show how you are academically competent to be enrolled.

i can write just about anything. but writing about myself seems to be painful. i don't know why.

isn't it just like sex? with the acceptance an imagery of an orgasm?

haha.

JAL! i completely agree with your POV. cremating is a total waste of biological chemicals that make up essential organs that can only occur in nature. I don't understand why people do not offer to donate their organs upon death or to a medical school for close study.

it's like the body isn't YOU anymore. it's a cask of chemicals, naturally bonded and decaying now that you're gone. ESPECIALLY CREMATING. you're just turning all that useful amino acids, muscles and ORGANS (especially organs) into compounds of carbons and nitrogen. COMPLETE WASTE~

so two and a half men urges all of you to donate organs upon death. TQVRM. you do whatever you want with the rest (hhaa so insensitive leh)

i miss you guys loads. i hope when all this madness has passed, we could pick up from where we left off.

ciao. xoxo

BTW CK i might wanna attend LOUD.

Whose ashes?

So, Michael Jackson died. His tribute, well more like his funeral, was said to cost $1.4million. That’s an expensive funeral. Now, don’t get me wrong, I loved MJ, well his music more than him, but 1.4mil for a funeral?

Again, don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to complain about the ramifications of such large scale spending in a time where the economy is as stable as a…very unstable thing.

No, no. Not about MJ and certainly not about the economy. But about death. The concept of an extravagant funeral is making me think.

Why? Why do we find the need to purchase a large wooden casket in which trees were chopped down (in MJ’s case, 14 carat gold trees) for a lifeless body, invite friends and family over for a bite and some mourning then later in the day finish it off with beautiful speeches, prayers and poetry. All of which FOR the deceased but heard by the living.

And I hardly believe, that if there is such a thing as the spirit of a being, that it would be able to hang around and watch the ceremony and nod in appreciation at how the flowers set the appropriate “there is a death in the family tone” and that Jason did a good job in not allowing Uncle Hector to deliver a eulogy. Wouldn’t this ethereal-being be a tad busy talking to St. Whoseits at the Gates made out of Whatsits?

I always had the plan of being cremated. If you thought ‘hahaha, cremated alive!’ there is very little to say regarding your sense of humour. I don’t know why though. And there’s that problem of what to do about the ashes. I love the ocean, so I thought it would be rather romantic for my ashes to be thrown out into the ocean, a clean one; plus, it would make a stunning photograph.

But that’s the thing, MY ashes? How can it be MY ashes; the organism in which the pronoun ‘my’ is applied to is no longer…‘him’. The same grammatical concept can be applied to the funeral, the casket, the grave, the tombstone, the altar, the ashes, the urn etc.

You are not there, the concept of ‘you’ has disappeared along with your heartbeat and brain activity. So surely, there is no way in which I would be offended if my – ‘the’ ashes were thrown not into the ocean but down the jamban or Selat Melaka (they’re increasingly becoming one of the same anyway). The same would go for the 1.4mil funeral, I, well the concept of ‘ME’ wouldn’t give two hoots as to whether or not Mariah Carey is present to sing off key.

Here lies nothing.

No, seriously.
Think about it.

And I'm sorry, about you, and me

This can only mean one thing... THE END OF THE WORLD! AHHHH!!!

What thing? What the hell am I talking about? Well, I'm talking about the idleness of the blog! If you compare our blog to a lake, it is so stagnant that the algae population in it is like the population of Africa, to the power 42! And if there is any sign that the end of the world is near, this would be the it, not the movie 2012.

The last time I checked, if I'm not wrong, the Jitler had late night activities ( for the benefit of the tabloids, it's some acting workshop) every night for an entire week and the usual T4YP+The Platform occupying most of his time.

In Ming's case, he has been busy studying and working hard to be the Wannabe-Doctor-of-the-Year, an award awarded by the Award Awarding Association of Awarders. Not to mention he has also been preoccupied by A2 exams in September if I'm not mistaken. Haven't heard him curse vagina for 3 weeks, you say? Yeap it's that bad.

And myself? Well inbetween watching Top Gear and procrastinating, I've been very much bogged down by final projects after final projects. Ever since the start of August, the gate of hades had open and unleashed monster after monster amount of assignments. To make things worst, I found out about 2 months ago that beginning from this year, they have stripped us from the privilege of having free access to Sunway Lagoon, not that I care anyway, but I thought it would help make my situation seem worse. Note that I didn't include sleep anywhere in this paragraph... Haih...

So yea a quick roundup of what's happening in the lives of the ever-happening Two and a Half Men. Here have another present from me. See you all around!

P.S. : Just to update everyone, LOUD 2009, yes the annual concert event organize by my church is back and is being held this Sunday, 26 of July. This year I am in-charge of the newly formed Multimedia Department, which is responsible to come up with some motion graphic videos, one of it being a background video to one of our band's song, much like something you see during award shows such as MTV or the Brit Awards. If you are able to find time this Sunday, please come and bring friends along too if you can. If you wanna come but got no transport you can drop me a message or call me and I will try to help sort things out. Hope to see you there!
